IGTV WANTS TO GET HORIZONTAL WITH YOU ;)

From May 23rd:

"We’re announcing support for landscape videos in addition to vertical. Ultimately, our vision is to make IGTV a destination for great content no matter how it’s shot so creators can express themselves how they want."--Instagram-Press.com

That's right, IGTV will now be let you view horizontally recorded videos the way they were made to be viewed... full mini screen... not mini mini screen.

On their site, Instagram says, "In many ways, opening IGTV to more than just vertical videos is similar to when we opened Instagram to more than just square photos in 2015. It enabled creativity to flourish and engagement to rise – and we believe the same will happen again with IGTV."

But as we've said in the past, for Instagram it all boils down to one billions of little things.

According to Ad Age, advertising execs told them in April "that Instagram has been speaking to them about the potential of ads on IGTV."

Right now IGTV is not monetized and you'll notice, has no ads. And that's because not enough people are watching to justify ads. So, you can bet the push to IGTV will be real this coming year.

OUR SUGGESTION: Well, we think that you should get on IGTV ASAP. It’s going to come in HOT & we want you to be in on the excitement early! Try to do a few IGTV videos/week. They are easy to record, and we recommend creating 30 second to 2 minute videos!

  1. Did you know that you can post them to your Instagram Story with a link to watch ( even if you don’t have 10K followers )?

  2. Did you know that you can post them to your static feed to increase views?

Now you do and you heard it here first!

Video is where it is at, so get on board!

FUN TIP: Add a thumbnail that goes along with your brand, a title that goes along with the topic and include a few hashtags! It’s all about targeting.

IGTV a hustler, baby.

Read into that how you will. ;)

HOW TO FIND YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

Let’s start with the basics…

  • Are you gaining results from the content you are developing?

  • Are you getting a response from your content?

  • Do you feel like the right people are responding?

  • Is anyone responding?

giphy-3.gif

The first step to finding your target audience is to…

…understand what YOU bring to the table and the type of person that would benefit most!

HOT TIP: Think about the pain points that you address and the solution you provide. Get as specific as possible.

LET US HELP YOU DEVELOP THIS AUDIENCE
Define your ideal customer/client by answering the following questions:

giphy-3.gif

1. What is their income level?
2. Where are they located?
3. How old are they?
4. Are they crushing it or struggling?
5. What are their biggest pain points, from a business and individual perspective?
6. What are they struggling most with right now?
7. Where are the most significant gaps they need to fill?
8. What are they currently paying for and are they happy?
9. Are they looking buy already, or do you need to convince them?
10. What would make them hesitant to buy?

Now that you have a better understanding, take the time to collect data on this audience!

Get to know them.

Test different types of…

  • Content

  • Ads

  • Marketing Strategies

The goal is to see what they respond best to. See what captures their interest, what drives them to click and take action!

PRO TIP: Keep track of these analytics on a monthly basis! Watch to see how your content is performing. Keep a list or an excel spreadsheet where you can note what performed well and what didn’t. You need to allow strategies a solid couple of months to see true results.

It’s easy to get impatient, but keep in mind that the first year or two of marketing a brand MUST include room for trial and error.

Once you discover which content performs best, then you will have your target audience. Once you have your target audience, you will be able to build relationships and know exactly where your investment is going! You’ll have a better idea of your ROI per strategy and the only way to understand this is to understand your audience, who they are and what they respond best to.

What do you struggle with when it comes to finding a target audience?

THE "GRAM" IS CHANGING

As some of you may have heard… Instagram is making some major changes in 2019, but don’t worry… we are going to fill you in on everything you need to know!

There are dozens of posts out there, but let’s keep this simple for you.

Here are the changes you might have already noticed + can expect to see:

  1. New Instagram Stories Camera

  2. Creator Profiles

  3. Donation Stickers for Instagram Stories

  4. Influencers Can Tag a Brand’s Product on their Post

  5. …and you might even be able to create your own face filter this summer ;)

NOT TO MENTION…

  • IGTV + Insta Stories are going to be taking up your explore page.

#1: THE NEW INSTA STORIES CAMERA

Some of you might have already received this update, but Instagram will now include a semicircular mode switcher, making it easier to find creative tools! Create mode also allows users to create Stories without having to upload videos or photos first.

#2: CREATOR PROFILES

Many influencers are wondering whether or not to make the switch. The difference between a business account and a creator account is that creator accounts get access to in depth analytics and additional exclusive features. Creators have access to follow/unfollow data, and this makes it easier for the influencer to see if data is resonating with their audience or not. Cool, right?

You can even design the preferred method of contact. Email, DM, text, you know?

However, the downfall is that with a Creator account, you won’t be connected to Instagram’s API, which means you cannot schedule posts.

#3: DONATION STICKERS FOR INSTAGRAM STORIES

Who doesn’t love giving back? We all know that the donation feature on Facebook is killing it, so why not have that available on Instagram. Because Instagram Stories are seen more often than static posts, Instagram is now allowing a donation sticker within Instagram Stories to raise money from the app!

OBSESSED.

Take a photo or video as you would for a regular Story, click the donations sticker and search through a list of non-profits! Once live, you can swipe up to see how much you have raised. Pretty dope, right?

#4: TAGGING A BRAND’S PRODUCT

Let’s talk about buying products from your favorite Instagram influencers directly from the app… that is what you will be able to do. Instagram is testing this new shopping tab. This shopping tab will allow you to click on the influencers photo to see what they are wearing and shop it!

You don’t even need to leave to Instagram app, so it’s super simple.

This feature is NOT available to everyone at the moment.

It is available to influencers, creators, athletes, authors and publishers.

Basically, the influencer can now act as a salesperson for the brand. Let’s keep it simple.

#5: CREATING YOUR OWN FACE FILTER

This shouldn’t come as a shock, but at this year’s F8 conference, it was announced that Facebook’s Spark AR Studio (the software that brands use to create Instagram Story filters) will soon be available for everyone.

This will allow you to be super creative, and so far, a major hit with Instagram users! For business owners, this is a great way to improve brand recognition and not to mention… super fun!
