So many of my friends ask me how I am OBSESSED with mornings.
HOW DO I WAKE UP WITH SO MUCH ENERGY?
I’ve actually been compared to the energizer bunny, and ya know what? I like that. I wake up and am ready to take on my day. That’s just how I am.
The day doesn’t always play out perfectly… but, the point is that I’m a morning person.
I’m also a creative. I love seeking inspiration everywhere I go. I love to feel inspired. I love to wake up feeling inspire. When I feel inspired, I feel motivated, you know?
What’s my secret. What am I hiding. How do I do it?
As a morning person, it comes naturally, but I’m going to share what I do with all of you in hopes that this gets you going in the morning as well! It’s all about mindset.
In my opinion, there is nothing like a productive morning!
…and I just want to point out that when I wake up past 6:30 or 7:00 am, I already feel like my day is done. Wasted. Gone. Goodbye. In the trash. History.
Sooooo, I guess you can say I take my mornings VERY seriously.
TIPS FOR WAKING UP MOTIVATED
Put one in place. Just do it. Get in the habit. Find what works for you.
We can get so busy during the day and caught up in stress, anxiety and other normal life challenges.
TIME FOR OURSELVES IS NOT ONLY NECESSARY, BUT NON-NEGOTIABLE.
When you end the day putting yourself first and you wake up putting yourself first, you will be able to take care of others better. Not just others, but situations, meetings and anything that happens during the day, ok?
If I went to bed right after responding to an email, I’d wake up feeling stressed.
If I went to bed after a hot steam shower, some essential oils, meditation, journaling and whatever else makes me happy, I’m going to wake up in a different state of mind, you know?
Same goes for the morning.
If I wake up and immediately go to my inbox, I don’t have time to set my intentions!
If I wake up, take some time for me, I will feel more confident and in control of the day.
FUN LITTLE TIP:
Do your to-do list and calendar at night.
Get your clothes ready for the next day.
Take out your vitamins.
Fill up your water bottle.
DO ALL OF THE LITTLE TASKS AT NIGHT, SO THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM IN THE MORNING.
I talk about this a lot as well. There was a time in my life where I really disliked water. Strongly disliked water. Diet Coke all the way. Until I realized that my migraines and lack of energy were a major problem, k?
I not only hydrate throughout the day, but I SPECIFICALLY drink 2 glasses of water when I wake up and 2 glasses of water before I go to sleep. This way, I start my day hydrated and I keep my body as hydrated as possible through the night.
This is one of my biggest tips for waking up more energized, and when you have more energy, you feel more motivated.
Productivity at its finest!
MAKE YOUR BED
This is a super small tip. I personally work from home, so I am always looking at my bed. When it is not made, I feel like a mess. It’s as simple as that. When I make it, I feel like I have my shit together.
Even if you don’t work from home… coming home to a freshly made bed is so soothing.
IT’S LIKE GETTING INTO A 5 STAR HOTEL ROOM BED.
…and if you didn’t know, there are a lot of statistics out there on the benefits of making your bed. It is such an easy task that makes a huge difference. At least mentally.
Every morning I make it a point to walk for at least one hour.
Not everyone has to do that. Not everyone has time. But, everyone can MAKE TIME for 10-20 minutes of movement. You have been laying still all night long. Moving gets your blood flowing, your mind going and wakes you up!
Between hydrating, making your bed and getting in a little movement, you are already on the right path to a productive day.
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN EXCUSES.
If you feel like you just don’t have time, wake up a little bit earlier. It’s that simple. If you can’t go walk, do jumping jacks. If you can’t do jumping jacks, do sit ups. If you can’t do sit ups, stretch.
Do something that requires movement.
THE TWIST - while I’m moving, I am thinking about what I am grateful for, what I am looking forward to and my goals. This not only excites me, but it allows me to feel fulfilled. Starting your day feeling fulfilled leads to motivation.
Like I said, I am a creative. But honestly, I think with any job you have, you have to feel inspired in order to remain motivated. Something needs to light that spark, you know what I mean?
When I go for my walk every morning, I might also listen to a motivational podcast. I always talk about Gary Vaynerchuk, but I also love Tony Robbins, Tim Ferriss and Ed Mylett. Sometimes getting in that pep talk first thing in the morning does the job. Even if it’s not your day, a pep talk from one of these guys will make it your day.
When I listen to these podcasts, I learn, I feel like I want to push myself, I feel inspired, I feel like doing it all! That’s the best way to start your day.
It doesn’t take a lot to wake up motivated. It’s about putting the right steps in place. Taking care of you. Making sure that you are setting yourself up for success.
That is how I manage to do it.
ANOTHER FUN LITTLE TIP: I even have a motivating song as my alarm just in case I don’t wake up on time. No one likes that annoying and loud alarm sound anyway, right?
WHY NOT MAKE IT MOTIVATING?
Some days you won’t feel motivated. Some days you will feel super motivated. Just because you start implementing these tips doesn’t mean you are automatically going to be this productive, motivated machine, ok?
Find what works for you. This is what works for me. I hope you found this valuable and I cannot wait to hear your results!
